Will a 3 series chip fit a 5 series?

All e28 guru's,

I found a chip from a 90' 318i and the bloke who's selling it reckons it'll fit my 87' M535i;

No, that chip will not work. It may plug in to your dme, but I don't think the car would even start let alone add power.

Jesus christ all mighty NO. Wow you need to reply to that guy who "reckoned" it would and let him know what a retard he is. How would a 1.8L 4 cly. chip work on a 3.5L 6cly. I mean come on a chip differs year to year, engine to engine usually. I don't mean to sound harsh on you, because some people just don't know and thats alright. But for someone to try to pass one on to another person is just wrong.
