Chiped E28!

Well I got a chip for my car. I comes to my dor on Thursday! I am super pumped. It is the Turner/ Jim C. chip. Suposed to be a 24hp and 29tq. Should be a big jump. Does anyone else have a chip that wants to let me know how they like it and how there car runs with it.

I gained quite a bit with the Dinan chip. With just the MAF conversion I dynoed 220 rwhp. The car ran a 14.0@97. After I put the chip in it ran 13.7@101. All e28's benefit a lot from a chip.

Sweet I am getting pumped. Before the chip and with my intake my car put 163hp to the wheels and 187tq. If I did the math right I got 7hp from my intake at the wheels. Can't wait to see what the chip adds.

hmmm nice. so both of you have a chip and CAI, but he has stock exhaust? and youre faster? i dont have a bmw that is 100% my own yet, but im pretty sure when i have enough money for a good project it will be either an e30 325 or e28 535 so im interested in how the mods compare. i know the 5 is a lot heavier but i like its style and pimpness, plus way more people around here have e30s.....anyways good luck modding guys

the E28 is only about 300 pounds heavier than my car and it is very fast now, it feels faster because of all of the torque (good ol peaky M50) and it is a very stout car

Well the chip is great. The car runs smoother, is a bit faster, and I am getting better gas milage. So far I am very happy. With a cam (284 Shrick) and a full exht.(headers back) it should eat 325's for lunch HEHEHE. I will keep you updated.

I ouwld be very interested in a chip for my E28 535i ..but I'm not sure how hard it'll be to get it here (Australia).
Do you really need a new exhaust to get the most out of it?
what exhausts are you 535i people running?

Thanks sparkle.

I'll have to open up the ecu box and find out what chip i have, wish there was a list of what cars have what chip, that'd be easier, but then again...i probably wouldn't trust it and i'd open it up just to be sure :P

What is a custom exhaust worth?

cant go wrong with a custom exhaust, supersprint etc can cost you a lot of money, the performance gains comparing that with custom wouldnt be a huge difference.
go down to your local exhaust shop and ask how much, i got qouted NZD$250 for a single exhuast system (about US$125) which is better for performance apparently, i decided to go for a twin exhaust on mine tho, as i like the sound, ive ended up spending about NZD$700 on my exhaust but ive changed the exhaust tips 3 times!

i've owned both of those cars. I'd say if you want power and class, go for the 535i. its wayyy quicker than the 325. as far as mod costs... i've actually found the e28 to be a bit cheaper. but not much. shocks and suspension components are the same. if you want style and handling, go for the 325
