M5 for sheer sexyness, comfort and performance. However, for modding out, caddy is cheaper for more horsepower. I almost purchased a CTS-V, but the cars had some inherent flaws in its design regarding suspension and balance. Similar M5 to CTS-V (modded or not), M5 would own it. My opinion.

A buddy has a CTS-V and it's a lot of bang for the buck. However, heard they tend to have drivetrain problems over time. The M5 is way more refined and about 100 X more beautiful

I guess the V's are having problems with tire wear. Tires are shedding at 10000 to 15000 miles. some have gone 20-25k miles but most owners are complaining about it. Must be those suspension geometry issues I mentioned earlier.

Tire shredding might also have something to do with 400 lb ft of torque!

If you are seriously posing this question, then the Cadillac is most likely the car for you.

I've been for a very nice ride in an 06 CTS-V 6 spd, being a muscle and bimmer guy I was actually very happy with it. Thankfully my buddy owns it so he showed me what it can do not what a sales man wants to show you.

Although even after going for a spin in one I would much rahter have an 01+ M5, which is what my plans are now, no more caddys

The CTS-V is no slouch it even handles, on the other hand M factor is M factor , i guess it depends on how many garages you have . For me at this point a M5 would fill a dream , I have never dreamed of owning a ax murderer caddy hahaha

You've never been in a CTS-V have you?
Goto the dealership and test dirve one, then come back and tell us how you liked it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in love with E39 M5's but my buddy owns an 06 CTS-V as well and boy oh boy oh boy, what a fucking machine that thing is

silly....just silly.....

The CTSV is a great car. It obviously has the HP, for the first time EVER a Caddie that handles a little, and its not a complete eye sore. The price is good. BUT there is nothing....NOTHING on earth that could make me buy an american car over an M5. Thats not a diss on American cars either, I just don't think you can top BMWs refinement, performance, or the way the car drives. M5 for me...but the CTS is still a great car.

Agreed... CTSV is less of an eye sore then catty's use to be, but M5 is an ultimate driving machine... Also, my parents had a few Cadillacs and the engines blew in both of them... We wont know how the new ones last for a while...
