blown auto box on E28 535im?

hey all,

pretty sure i blew my auto box on my 86 535i m sport..
4 Speed auto, its got fluids etc, but just thought id check prior to trying to find another one.

basically, driving around normal, gave it abit of go round the corner, stopped at lights, put it in neatral at the lights, went to shit to drive... nothing, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, nothing, but reverse is fine.

im assuming its blown, but is it worth checking the solenoids for the box, whereever they are?

if blown, is there any differences with gear boxes between say, my 535i or an 528i? any interchange-ability between any other 5 series 4sp autos?

You need to look on mye28 or roadfly in the archives. If I recall correcly there is a neutral saftey switch that can cause this. Also Why do you put it nuetral at lights? you have an over heating problem?
