Most Miles On yer Bimmer

Ok was wondering what is the most miles any of ya have put on yer bimmer without major repairs need such as Engine changes, tranny dropping. And what was yer secret other than usual routine maintenance

211,000 on our 93 525. Running almost PERFECT!! This car runs like a brand new engine, but there is a hole in the exhaust somewhere in the catback, so actually it sounds pretty good. This is the best 211k car I have ever seen, it looks new (minus the older body style)

As for repairs and maintanance, Mobil one since we bought it, and we took it to BMW once a year for a $3k tune up. Only major repair was the ABS unit. It locked up on us as we were driving and we just happened to make it to BMW on the way home from somewhere, were it had just been for the annual tune up. It turns out it was broken and my dad told them to fix it, and they did a crappy ass job and it ended up locking up on us almost catching our breaks on fire. They paid for parts, but not labor...Damn performance BMW, i know a few other members on this board have a problem with them.

hell thats great...and still works great?...how much did you buy it for and did you buy it second hand?....or third hand?...4th hand maybe?...nahh just jokin there!...but over all thats sweet

our extra car is a 84 733i.. the thing has 208k miles and runs so smooth (up until 105 then shakey) it is all original- egnine, tranny etc.. nothing done except reg maintenence. only leaks power steering fluid (which is seemed to stop though, wierd) but the power is all there.. these cars are as classic as they are reliable

wonder what the new 7series will run to before new engine/tranny etc...

Our, 90 525i has 250,000K on it and still runs strong, we just sold it a while back, but know the new owner, and it still runs great. We took it from 0 miles to 250k one word, CARE.

All that it had problems with is that bad water pump, but no tranny or engine block changes or anything like that, just some standard repairs on parts that will physicaly will not run to 250k, Same engine, just care, watch the oil coolant, run good gas through it.

I sold my old E30 with 160,000 miles with no major problems to a friend of mine. It just rolled 190,000 the other day and still running strong. Is due for a new muffler and brakes soon though. Still on original engine, tranny, and clutch. Just took very good care of her and performed all the regular maint. myself.

In comparison my mom's Merc just hit 300K and is still flawless

the car is GREAT!! the interior is still in perfect condition almost, and that car can HAUL for a 211k 10 year old car. I took that car at 115 through traffic on a 4 lane section of 40 with no problems, it handles like its on rails. We actually bought it 2nd hand from BMW as a CPO i think in 95. It was a lease vehicle I think either from BMW or another company bought it for a company car. Engine gets steam cleaned too every once in a while, and it looks just like it came out of the factory. And that engine sure can growl for being so old!
