Difference in taillights? (2 & 4 door)

Will 4 door taillights work on a 2 door car? I know when you buy them you have to specify 2 or 4 door. Why is this? What is the difference? The reason I ask is that one of my friends neighbors has a full set of clears from Bavarian Autosport for a 4 door E36. I have the parking and sides already, but I need the tails. If I can't use them I told him I would try to sell them for him. Either way the parking and sides are for sale. If the tails won't work for me than the whole set will be for sale. Not sure what he is looking to get for the whole set. If interested send some prices my way and I'll let him know.

The four door lights won't work on a two door coupe. The coupe's lights are more stretched out from left to right than the four door version.

yea like he said the 2 door tail lights are wider then the 4 doors. So make sure you specify.

4dr are taller than 2dr

if you have a sedan next to a coupe the difference is very easy to notice
