Which wire can I use for ground for indiglo gauge install?

Hey guys,
I just got a visionwerk indiglo gauge set. I got everything up except the wiring. I can't seem to get it to turn on. I got the positive from the grey wire with red stripe from behind the lighting control panel. From that same bundle of wiring which wire would be negative? I assume black but I don't want to assume I want to be certain. I tried touching the ground to metal pliars and to the outside of the car but it is painted so still no luck. I dont have a meter or anything off hand so if someone could tell me which wire it is that would be great. Let me know

If you just need straight unswitched ground just get it locally via the chassis. There are all sorts of convenient bolts and so forth to use under the dash.
