E21 engine problems, need help quick!!!!

hey would anyone have a idea why my car's idle speed jumps around and there is a loud sqeaking sound that makes it sound like im running boost? if i open up the hood it reaks of burning rubber and the fan isnt spinning as fast. im afraid to drive my car so i havent driven it in about 2 weeks and i miss it dearly, i have a E21 320i by the way. any answers would be greatly apreciated because i have to get it running quick because my friends and i are having our annual rally race up at his cabin and i have a good chance this year with my rwd E21(last year i raced my mini van hahah).

sounds like you have a problem with an accessory drive belt. it might be too tight, which is why its not spinning as fast and making the burning smell. start from there.
