Resale value of M3s

For some reason, I think BMWs command a rather high resale value compare to other high end luxury cars such as Jaguars.

I just saw a few auctions on eBay that were selling 1997/1998 Jaguar XK8s for low $20k. Isn't this price pretty low for a car that originally cost over $65k?

On the other hand, there are definitely 1997 E36 M3s out there that are still going for more than $20k.

Hmmm.. As much as I love the E36 M3, if I had $20k to spare, it would certainly be tough for me to choose between a mint XK8 and E36 M3.

What do you all think?

All luxury cars like that go down in price as soon as you buy one. You could go buy a brand new Aston Martin DB7 for $160k, drive it 5 miles, try to sell it, and only get about 100-120k for it.

For one thing, the XK8 is SLOW, 0-60 = 6.7 secs (man. estimate)

My stepdad has one, it is definately a cool car, and looks awesome, but I would actually rather have the M3 in your case.
