| The Ultimate Sleeper.... Period When I first saw this car it had started life out as a modest 318i which the owner of Total Performance in Mt.Airy had bought. Little did I know the transformation that was about to take place. One of the larger engines BMW produced was a 7 series V-12. The idea was brought up over a friendly bet by one of his friends. He said there was no way in hell you could fit v-12 into a e-30. He was proven wrong in less time than you'd think. After extreme modifications to the chassis and a full body roll cage were added the car had the engine put in it. It fit just fine. The engine itself is a steep angle 12 and was bought off a wrecked 7 series, the engine is in brand new condition. A 7 series differential was put on in place of the e30 3 series one which is inherently weaker and cannot take the torque the 12 puts out. But thats not it, the car will also be mated to a custom racing transmission and the engine will have twin turbos. We are talking about 600hp at the wheels folks in a car that does'nt weigh much at all. He already has everything needed and in the process right now of finishing chassis work. The car is also undergoing a widebody modification with 10 inch wide wheels in the back and 8 inch ones in the front. To check out some pics of this car go to www.totalperf.com if you stop by his store anytime ask him about the car he'll gladly show it to you.

| A widebody e30 is not a sleeper... Nor is that UGLY AS HELL Eurbuni widebody kit. A v12 is wonderous for drag racing, but just go ahead and try to autox or corner in that car. the nose is gonna plow on braking. I'm sad to see a shop with the means to carry out such a project screw it up with horrible taste. |

| Maybe I should explain things better, I have talked to the owner about all of the problems you speak of, The V-12 he has is a aluminum block which actually whether you believe it or not weighs the same as the heavy ass cast iron 4. The engine is alot smaller than you think, I have seen it. To solve weight distribution he will put a racing fuel cell far back into the car. There really isnt a huge weight issue from what he tells me. And I would definately call it a sleeper, the original 318i had a 4 banger in it, this has a 12. The one and only point I am in agreement on with you is the body kit, there are some much nicer kits out there for e30's besides the erebuni one but I could care less about that. The handling is "iffy" in my mind but take into consideration that it will be a widebody with a very very taught chassis which will probably work. Oh I forgot to mention that he's been working on and racing Bimmers for 25+ years so I think he knows what he's doing. Basically this car will have no features that will characterize it as a 3 series. You must understand that he has already taken what you have said into account. Think of the E30 as just the outer shell to give it a streetable look, the inside will have absolutley no 3 series parts in it. Start to speculate when he finishes this car, not when its still being made!

| Yes I agree totally with you that the widebody kit is ugly. I would have much rather him put a flared fender kit from BMP designs on it, it is alot better looking than the erebuni one and is alot more functional. By the way I love e30s man and the two you have are sweet!

| IF the kit make its it look ugly, then it just adds to the sleeper effect LOL.

| pretty sweet setup if the v12 doesnt weigh much more than the original. just get a different body kit and its good to go. but if you wanted to win the bet, it would be alot easier to search for the other v12 e30 and show them the pics ![]() |

| Hehe, of course, a V12 in an E30 body is a well-known thing and, actually, I know that there are quite a lot of cars kinda these in Europe. In Latvia the last project is up - E30 2door with a V12, a lot of work done, the interior is from an E36, the transmission is a six-speed manual gearbox from 840Ci ... yeah. But the white E30 in the link looks TERRIBLE!!! ![]()

| im not sold on the v12 e30... no matter what you do putting a v12(no matter how light it is) in the place of a 4 banger= horrible weight problems... prove me wrong i guess and lex... now thats a sleeper!!!
