| Help The clutch went out on our 2001 M roadster after only 10,000 miles. It always seemed to slip a little under very hard acceleration. Then the other night we were out doing multiple hard runs. After 6 good launches it just slips a little, on 7 I thought it was just bad driving on my part and went around for run 8 and the clutch just slipped all the way down. Now it is slipping all the time. First gear is somewhat useable, but you don’t want to try to go up a hill in third.
I have never had a clutch go from useable to unusable that fast. Any ideas?
BMW says it is probably not a manufacturer defect so they won’t cover it. I am not going to pay them 2K for a clutch job 1,500 in labor about when I can probably do it myself for parts.
Has anyone done their one clutch job? How hard was it and where can I go to get info on it.
Recently I saw a post on someone putting an M5 clutch on an M roadster. But I can’t seem to find it now. Anyone know where this was?
What aftermarket clutches do you recommend?
Thanks for the help, Steve |
