Although we welcome all to DTMPower, the second someone starts instigating that is when the welcoming party ends and the BAN-A-THON begins.

I'm not pointing fingers. But if for those who are reading this and for a split second thought I was referring to you, then by all means, consider it a personal message to you that you have been duly warned to stop immediately.

Nothing beats a person's own conscience to weed out the guilty.

You say that true car enthusiasts do not care about a brand.
I would think a true car enthusiast would care more about how a car drives than how it looks, so in my opinion all 7 series and future 3 and 5 series drivers are the true car enthusiasts.
One last thing how does 911 Turbo and a M5 even compare, they are a world apart.

you'll like the new bmw;s even if they look like total shit??

im a bmw fan for life and always will be, but if their designs tank i'll stick to older styles then.

i too would not buy a non M bmw or a non S audi (but would never buy an audi anyways)

audis also have to use v8's or twin turbos to get power, bmw is just pure raw strength.... viva la BMW

yes, and then the audi would be 7th, the bmw 8th, and the benz 9th.

again, an m-power vs s-power thread. although i like some of the comments of youse, i have to say that C&D is one of the best magazines out there, IMO. i still get shudders when i open my mailbox and recognize the big letters that symbolize the passion between the two most important ingredients in the automotive world: Car And Driver. lol

anyways, coming from an audi driver, i should be biased in my opinions; i am not. but, considering that this is predominantly a bmw board, i have to say that some of you'all have funny but stupid reasons as to why the audi won in the two instances.

have some of you actually read the articles? do you know why the audis won in the two categories? it's certainly not because of the acceleration or braking results. several other important factors rewarded the audis in points and it accumulated the most points at the end.

sure, you say, that audi tries to build a bmw fighter. well, yes. in the past two years, the bmw had and still has worthy m-power machines, but the audi stepped in with new designs and juice and it simply beat the bimmers. now it's up to the bmw to build the audi fighters if it wants to regain the title. it all results in a nice race of the horsepower wars that i certainly, as a car enthusiast, enjoy.

thanks for reading my boring post, and please, try to stay away from jealousy. peace

It's a German car war right now. Audi seems to be on top of the throne. They can sure as hell be de-throned but can BMW rise up to the challenge like Audi did (with success might I add)?

The main problem in all this comparisons is that there will never
be a direct comparison of up to date cars of the manufacturers
because of the different release times. The Mercedes and Audis
which are compared to the BMWs have just been released while
the BMW is quite old by now. As soon as the new M5 model is
released you will have your 1st place back.

Rather than hating the placement you should enjoy the fact that
the current M5 with its "old" technologies still beats the new Audis
and Mercedes in several aspects.

And in the end who really cares how the cars are ranked?

It is all about enjoying your car and that it fits your personal
needs. So if you have fun in your car and get a shine in your
eyes when looking at it - great - to hell with the other people
and what they think about it.

Dominik

Well said And that's why these two marques have become as great as they have. Competition! One always tries to out-do the other. I'm sure that when the next generation M3 comes out, it will be even better competition for the S4. That's how companies keep from getting soft, by continuing to strive for excellence.
