Genuine style never gets old. In fact I think that the problem is not with the E46, but rather that a lot of the big car companies are producing cars with the same type of rounded body styling. Its not that it looks bad, just not original. Thats why I love my E36. You take one look and you know its a classic BMW.

the looks dont get old, the number of em however..

Even up here in Canada, in Cambridge (a city of only 100,000) there are so many kids driving done up e36's (mostly 318/325) but still, its almost turning into a car every kid could afford. Which is why my 325is is for sale, and i bought a 2K 328Ci.

The e36 is a FRIKKIN great car, i have had 3 of em, but they are just getting to common!

I completely agree, I drive e46's all day everyday and I always have a big smile when I get done with work and hop in my 11 year old body style....and to me, no flames, I like the way the e36 drives better as well.....the e46 is stiffer, yes....but I feel so much more connected.

I don't think of e30's as "old" I think of them as classics, I always catch myself nodding to people driving them....and I hope people will do the same for my car when it has a "historic car" license plate on it. If I won the lottery tomorrow, the first thing I would do is pay off my car and build a garage for it.

Common? yes....destined to be a classic? I'd like to think so....old? beauty is in the eye of the beholder

and for that guy talking about not getting laid over his car, if you aren't kidding.... you need to find some different women and pull your head out of the "jones" parking lot....

E36's are of course becoming dated, but its still a great looking car- when taken care of at least. Though its unfortunate the E36 M3 styling isn't more signature its still the hotness.. but the E30 M3 will always be the H-O-T ness.

E36 M3s do look really mean. I'm not sure what it is that makes them stand out so much, but it works. It still has a serious wow factor on the streets. I think it also has to do with the rarity of the E36 M3, even though they stopped production years ago. With that being said, regular 3 series E36s might not have that same wow factor, so.. they are on their way to the realm of the E30. That isn't a bad thing though, designs change. It just depends on your preference. I also agree with some other people regarding the E46s. I think the primary reason the E36 might look dated is simply because of the new design (E46.) Even then, the E46 might be a little too rounded. I like the wide fenders on the M3, but otherwise it doesn't seem that impressive (the quad exhause kicks ass though.)

I still get PLENTY of looks from people, every Porsche I drive with on rt7 waves at me (except for the old ass moms in their boxters.. ..get a minivan.) Basically what I'm trying to say is that they are still regarded as a very refined and well performing european sports car (especially if Carerra 4S owners and stuff wave at you.. in your mostly stock e36 M3.)

I'm very content.

oh yeah.. I'm mixing with different kind of girls .. they are KOREAN girls ... they are fcking materialistic, they always talk how they love to have a lover who has at least 540i e39 ... f&@# ...

anyway .. e36 is outdated .. some of you may think it's not, because you still own the car, but after you get a better car, you'll start to think that e36 is outdated.

it will not look outdated if you keep on looking at your own car... if you look broader choices of car, you'll start to think that e30 and e36 are friggin old ...

e46 owners.. what do you think of e36? or e30?
