If i buy a muffler for the M3, would muffler man be a good place to have them do it or would they do a shitty job? Im not going to buy full piping just yet (no cash)

so you wanna put one of those lame 'weedwacker' tips on your current muffler... or remove the muffler and put a fart can on that is not a full catback?

save the cash and keep the stock exhaust until you can get something good for the ///M. dont disgrace such a great car with cheap wannabe parts.

illegalprelude,
Install it yourself it is very easy. I did it by myself took about 2 hours because I spent most of my time figuring out ways to prop the muffler up because I couldn't hold it and screw the nuts and bolts together with only 2 hands. But if you can get a friend to help you, you should be able to get it done in about an hour. I am not sure the link but I know there is DIY that has step-by-step instructions how to change your exhaust.
If you are installing an AA exhaust for an e36 let me know I just did an install of one on my car 3 weeks ago. so it is still fresh in the mind.
good luck

I think that he is talking about just the muffler, and not the full exhaust (cat-back). Yes, Muffler Man would do the job just fine. You may also want to try some non-franchise muffler places, they might give you a better deal.

yea i would be getting just the muffler, not a catback. Dont they have to weld that stuff on? I mean if its bolt on, i can try to take care of it with some friends but if it needs welding.....so im not sure, would that need welding?

Tom, you're saying that the muffler is being held on by a flange (or something to that affect)? If that's the case 'lude, then you should be able to buy the unbolt the stock muffler, put a new gasket (optional), and bolt on the new muffler. But I don't think that this is the case (that the stock muffler has a flange for easy removal). If this is the case, then the muffler guy ll have to cut off the stock muffler (using pipe cutters, right behind the end of the can) and weld the new muffler on. He may also have to install a new hanger or two.
You'll pay something like... $125 - $200 for a new muffler, then another $25 - $75 for the muffler work. I would seriously recommend just going with a cat-back exhaust made for your car. If you just slap a muffler on, there's no way to tell what it will sound like either. Plus, your performance gains will be null, maybe even make you lose a few top-end HP. Plus, you can install the exhaust yourself, and there's something very gratificating about doing your own mechanical work

-Ducky

ok, here is something I had in mind

http://www.autowerks.com/xcart/custo...dd6cb7a5e6878b

it says full catback so that comes with full piping right? its not just "muffler" correct?

and if thats the case that its a full cat back, could still muffler man do it for me? or is it possible for me to still do it?

Wow, if you are going to spend 640 why not get an Active Autowerkes Gen 3. Much nicer IMO. Here is where I got mine Mperformance it is 599 with 35 shipping. Have you looked under your car yet? As to answer your question about the UUC System U Exhaust it does say Installation: Bolt on system, so I would assume you can still do it yourself.
Post some Pics when you get and install your muffler.
If you want I will post Pics of my AA exhaust installed. See my gallery for a pic of the exhaust before I installed it.

Have you looked at AA. It does give you HP gain. Check out the Dyno sheet on there web site AA
The one main thing I liked about AA is it is not really loud and has a great sound. Sounds like a Ferrari. They also have a video clip with sound you can listen to, to get an idea of what it sounds like but it does not do it justice to hearing it first hand.
