| I currently drive a Pontiac Grand Prix (98)....its automatic transmission... in couple of weeks my dad is gonna lease a 325i from his work(in standard)... ive been driving for 1 year... any tips in learning it? |

| Good low End Torque. I dont think you Stall it too much. Maybe just do so Tire churping. You want a Tip?.. Well : When Releasing the Clutch, only release it enough to that the car is excellerating but clutch still slipping a tinny bit. When you hear/feel that the engine and the transmission are at the same speed let the clutch out. Try to keep the Revs Below 2000RPM. If you start messing around above there you'll either light the tires up or buck it really hard. Have fun. Remember this is the only time in your life you can make up excuses for spinning the Tires!!

| like they said, just go to parking lots and backroads with no one, and maybe bring someone who drives a stick to coach you through it and dont get discouraged. its pretty easy once you get the general idea and learn some foot foot hand coordination. |

..... yeah my dads been drivin standard since hes been 16 so there wont be a problem hopefully....Whats better gearing down to slow down.. or brakin first? |
| |||
| better? for now i would just take it out of gear and brake. but gearing to slow down if you do it instead of breaking a lot you can put some extra life into your pads and rotors. |

| Yeah, I learned the most when I drove on my own. You should have someone teach you the basic concepts. Then take the car out to some deserted area and drive all day & night. You'll get it down. The hardest part is getting into first gear. After that, you're good to go. Oh, and make sure you practice starting from a stand still going up a hill. My car is for sale if anyone's interested! | Lets play nice children.... Yeah i had trouble with a stick when i first learned, but only because my dads a bad teacher. "Let the clutch out slowly" "should i give it gas?" "Just let it out slowly" "I think it needs gas" "just keep going" Stall.... But don't be discouraged if you stall alot. Just keep trying, and don't worry about slipping when you're first learning. You'll soon be shifting like a pro.
