4000k vs. 6000k HID kits

Hello, I am in the process of buying a HID kit in the near future, but I am having a VERY difficult time on deciding on which kelvin rating to go with either a 4000 kelvin range or 6000 kelvin. I am deciding between the Catz 4500k kit and the Philips Ultinon 6000k kit. I have heard that the 6000k kit might not be all that blue compared to a 4000k kit. Some people say 6000k puts a nice blue light everywhere others say its looks the same as a 4300k kit, espcecially once the bulbs are "broken in." I have heard color has a LOT to do with the projector and the way it refracts light and the e36 ellipsoids do not do a good job in making a nice blue light being that they were designed for halogens. I also, understand that you sacrifice around 500 lumens or 15% of light output by going with a 6000k kit. I have seen the Catz 4500k kit and it looks nice on startup but once warmed up is a bit is just pure white and no real noticeable blue. So what I want is a nice blue light, but have intense output and not have fatiguing blue light on a long journey at night. Anyone have a problem with blue light tiring them at night? Another option is to go with a 4000k bulb that is coated blue. Any input to help guide me on this decision is appreciated.

Tom

the 4000k gives a bluish white color, and the 6000k kits are more purplish white color....

My brother just got a all Philips 4300K kit with the Euro Projectors, They are nice and bright just look on LordGop's sig pic. They don't really have any blue to them beside some that you see if you are in another car in front of the car and look back in your rear view mirror, you will see a blueish white star from the projectors. The 6000K the blueish light look that I think your going for, true it does not put that much white light on the road, but it is bright ass blue light, Only get either 4300K or 6000K the rest are not true HID and are some tiawan (sp) shit. I love the pure white light the 4300K give off, they have no real blue in them, but the 6000K will. the 6000k are blueish white if am correct, anything above that iis getting into the purple look. PLus the projectors do a great job of spreading the light, just make sure you aim them right.

Daception, I know the new E46 have self leveling headlights, All HIDs chgange colors for like 5 secs after you first start them up for the night, because they have to warm up and the warming up causes them to change color when you turn them on. However if you have them on and then turn them on and off really quick they don't change colors, cause the are already warm. If you get a vid , its some were on the net a called blise a guy in a new 330ci turn his lights on the due the warm up and auto level.

You can have the color change but not sure if you can get aself leveling kit for the E36.

You can't get auto level for the e36, but you can get power adjusters for the height of the lights. "Spencer" had some kits for sale, search his name. They plug into the headlights, and then a switch is mounted next to the dimmer switch inside. You cannot use a dinan intake with them.

No, thats the higher the color temp. 4300k are the brightest and then they get more blue/purple and less light output from there.

4300 = bright
lower like 6000K = bluer(sp , lol), lower light output.
