| I'll try and post some pics of my 4300k Philips based kit. I was thinking about getting the 6000s but I wanted a more factory look. Plus the 4300K gave me more of the light output I wanted then the 6000K did. I'll post some pics. The inner lights are my city lights. Umnitza was at bimmerfest (www.bimmerfest.com) and his installs looked very professional. I did not have a chance to buy my kit from umnitza (because I had not really heard of him yet). I know some people have had a good experience with lavalighting. Please still look at lavalighting, you may find that you like what they have. But I would also look at Umnitza, I saw him at bimmerfest and he looks very professional. More then anything make sure you get Philips/or = ballasts AND bulbs. I have also heard that 4300k is factory.

| LordGop, thanks for calling at 3 am, on numerous occasions. I don't mind it, really, cus it has happened before, but that's probably why I sounded a bit sleepy :-D Last edited by 97e36 : 04-20-2003 at 11:21 PM. |

| I know it was late; I was in a hurry to get the kit as I'm sure you remember. I do have to give you props for staying open 24-7. Hehe didn't think I'd finally meet you again somewhere, now that I think about it your in TX, so when I called it was later there. I have to laugh as I recall, calling you =), seeing that I did wake you up. I must say Jerry that your prices, when I was buying (not sure if they have changed) where very competitive =). EDIT: I also had my HID install at that place that works on my car. I thought I could do it myself but after what I saw they did at the shop wow seems a bit more then I thought. EDIT2: I kept hearing about this guy at LL named jerry never knew it was you all this time. I was kinda thinking it was since you were the one who was always picking up the phone =)

| LordGop - I agree with half of what you said, thanks for the compliment. However, Philips-based kits are not the panacea people make them out to be. Additionally, when you order HID from me, you will receive a video on how to install them. |

| LordGop, it's all good I think you made a good decision on your choice for lighting.Quote:
Philips: extremely low failure rate, bulb brightness decreases by only ~10% last quarter of bulb life, dominates nearly 75% of aftermarket HID lighting with most experienced bulb manufacturer Osram: OEM for BMW, nice bulb color, overall great reliability, few complaints such as bulb color and/or brightness not matching other headlamp GE: relatively new to the HID bulb market, very few complaints, GE stated that their bulb looses up to 50% of brightness by the last quarter of bulb life BTW, XenonFactory (www.xenonfactory.com) will warrant the same genuine Philips HID kits that Lava Lighting carried for 5 years. If you find a similar kit for a lower price, they can price match and usually has over 2 dozen kits in stock! Check them out.Last edited by 97e36 : 04-21-2003 at 12:06 AM. |

| A little more TRUTH "hearing things" and "reading things" all depends on where and who you hear them from. GE - all GE specs show at 1500 hours it is at 75% output GE has 2 - both rated same life Here's the FACT: http://www.gelighting.com/na/downloa..._sellsheet.pdf Philips: The hard facts on 4100K Philips HID bulb: It is shown in product catalogs as "MPXL-DL35". MPXL stands for Micro Power Xenon Light. This is the bulb installed OE in many HID headlamps today. It is 3200lm bright (+/-450lm) and 4100K colortemp (0.380x 0.390y). At zero hours it starts off at 4100K and goes upwards to 4600K after 1500 hours. After that there is no measure points, but curve has the direction to reach 5000K after maybe 2500hours. Do not rush out and buy some 5 year old bulb from an old BMW 750iA yet; As all other bulbs, they also get dimmer with time: 100% at 0 hours 90% ar 200 hours 80% at 1000 hours 75% at 1500 hours When I find the final link - which I'm still looking for, I'll post it. But this should be enough to work with. Osram: The same. http://www.sylvania.com/auto/pdfs/d2sd2r.pdf |
