| What tiers do you recommend? I had michelin pilots for about 25k fronts are still the same ..rear's I changed 3 times so far. I need all 4 now, but I dont really wanna pay over a grand for new tiers that im gonna have to replace with in a cople months. I love the preformance of pilots but not for the price.

| Depends how wide they are. Look at the Pirelli P7000 Super Sports. I have them on my 8 and are the best tire for the $$. Also, may want to adjust how you drive to save on tires. I believe that tires are made to be used, so that is cheap insurance. I have Pilots on my Viper (285/45/17 and 335/45/17) and those as you can imagine are expensive. Michs are soft too.

| I hate Pirelli P7000's -- no offense E31. I have them on my Lexus and they wear like crazy and make huge amounts of road noise. I currently bought Goodyear F1 GS-D3's. I'm going to try them out. I would consider these tires: S03's F1 GS-D3's Toyo Proxes T1-S Falken Azeni's Kumho MX's I'm not a big fan of Michelin Pilots personally ... I think it also depends on if you track your car. If you do, I would recommend the S03's or Azeni's.... not sure how the goodyears will hold up, I'll find out this weekend at VIR. But, the MX's have been getting RAVE reviews ... but tirerack will pretty much say the goodyear's are definitely a step above the kumho MX's ... I would say they are a step BELOW the S03's though. Best bang for the buck is the MX's ... I personally would really look at Toyo's and Falken's ... I'm just experimenting with different tires ... because tires really depend on your driving style as well ... so, do not necessarily listen to what other people say ... |

| I.M.O. toyo proxes T1-S i have them on my car and love them. i've had toyo proxes S/T's on my truck for over a year now and they're still about 70%.

| Porsche club event, 3 full days on the full course. I disagree with your 712 suggestion ... spend the extra money and get the Kumho MX's ... it will be a night and day difference in handling, cornering, wet, etc. The MX's are like two ply toilet paper to wipe your ass vs. using one-ply toilet paper. You know that Sear's matches ANY price from an authorized dealer, even an internet dealer. Plus, discount tire does this as well. This way, you can avoid shipping charges since VA's sales tax is much cheaper to pay. |

| YOK es100, i have them in the rear now and sport in the front... least to say is that the es100 is the same as pilots at 1/2 hte cost... i dunno hwo they handle after a lot of wear but they have been great not just the price alone

| I am about to replace my tires as well. I have done a lot of research looking for the "best" tire. Frankly, it doesn't exist. However, there are a number of really good tires for different applications. Examples: Nitto - Make great drag tires. Kuhmo, Yok's, and Toyo's - Make less expensive performance tires. For me, I wanted a tire that I didn't have to compromise a lot on. Lateral grip, basic traction, and tread wear were priorities for me. After reading a lot of the survey and test results I have decided on the Bridgestone Potenza SO3 Pole Positions for my street tire. Until I get an R or A compound tire for auto-xing, I feel that this tire will provide me the best of what I was looking for. I was willing to compromise wear a little compared to other lower rated tires, but spent the extra money to keep the ratings still high. These are not cheap tires, especially compared to the Kuhmo's... but I believe they will be worth the price. Also, they are cheaper than the Pilots. Hope this helps. - Veno

| Go with the ES100 Yoko's. They are the best tire for the $$. At tire rack i believe they are $105 or lower. Wet traction is awesome, and dry traction is alright (not as good as the conti-sports i had before). The Kumho's would also be good cause they are cheap price, but ive never driven them so i dont know how they perform.

| I agree with jderry... the p7000 are horrible and cause a lot of road noise. They were fairly sticky but I have to say that having both the Kumho Exsta Supra 712's and the Perelli P7000's, my Kumho's lasted longer, were cheaper, and stuck better than the perelli's. However, I also agree that the Pilots are too pricy for the life expectancy. I think my next set of tires are going to be the Bridgestone S03's. I want to see how they work, I hear they're great.

| If you track, I would not go with Yoko ES100's. There is a writeup of someone at bf.c that just bought yoko's and didn't like them. I would definitely pick the Kumho's over the AVS ES100's. E.g., turn in was harsher, cornering not as good, overall a good tire for the street; but, if you want good performance handling -- not a great choice. Visit the tirerack forum over there. I know RyanC is doing OLOA with MX's. He just came back from beaverun and used MX's at the track. He was REALLY impressed with the dry and wet handling ability of them. He has the AA supercharged mcoupe. So, I would go with MX's IMHO. His tires only lasted him around 5K miles though. Then again, he's a friggin fast driver ... he was ripping some really good times EVEN in the wet ... only 1-3 seconds slower than his dry times. |
