College car? (plenty of choices this time)

College car for me, starting this fall. Everyone throw in their imput.
I need power (mod bug bit) and I need something that will last reliably for four years. Also, if you have another car to suggest, throw that in too. Moderators, sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum, i just wanted more traffic. max about $28k for the car.

I would have to go with the S4, or a 99M but you dont have that listed. What ever you do, dont get that ugly ass damn POS evo. I think satin had something to do with the styling of that car. Where as we all know the M3 was gods gift to man

None of you guys wanna know wath car prices are like in Denmark... An M3 E36 from 1996 would be something like 57.000 Dollars! the prices here sux big time !

I really hope one day the prices would be smaller so we all could drive more safe cars... (And faster off course)

Damn!!! 57k USD for an M3 96'??? Here a car like that costs from 15k USD (and up)... quite a difference.



About the poll. I voted for the CLK430. Of course, S4 is a good car, but none of the other cars can give you the luxury and smooth feeling like the Mercedes does. Of course, EVO has a better handling, japanese cars maybe are more responsive and so on, but my vote still goes to the MB. It is an another level of car.

I would never choose a japanese car instead of a car from Germany... But this, of course, is just my humble opinion and - mostly - taste.

My deal with the s4 is reliability. Of course I would be chipping it, so how does that make the engine? And what about the interior, Pete has some nasty stories of him and his friend. I like his having to wear his ski suit on a 2 hr drive because the ac stuck on him.

Someone in my dorms got a new E46 M3. NEW new. Purchased for him by his parents. There's another guy with an E46 SMG, two Boxster Ss, and a C32AMG. For $28,000, just keep the M3.
