One of my friend is getting a 88 325ix, what are the things to look out for? Are the driveshafts a weakness? And if the car has a knocking noise when i reverse gear and front wheels turned, is this the driveshafts?

I'd really like to know too. I'm looking for a project car. I know BMW actually had an AWD E36 model in europe for a very very small period of time,,, - but why so limited? Was there problems with the AWD system?
