ok, i have enlaid a I/O switch into my dash for my new hidden red neons in the headlights...so my headlights are normal, but when i flip the switch i get a eye-catching red halo around my headlights...

..i have all the wiring to the neons and switch done, i jsut have to connect to a power source, i have already wired the wires through the firewall from the switch, so they are in the engine bay. My question is, should i connect them directly to the Battery post in the engine bay, or somehow wire them to the fuse box? I heard that it is safer to wire appliances like mine to the the fusebox, so electrical fires don't occur, or something liek that....so I'm asking, how the heck do i wire the wire to the fuse box, and would that be better that wiring it to the post. and if i did wire to the post, what would be the best way to make a good connection from the wire to the battery post...welding, electrical tape..i.e.... I'm not very good with electrical wiring, so anyone with any experiance please help me i would be very grateful. thank you.
