| dyno day 200hp.? I have a 300i 2001 auto, with a Dinan stage 3 set up. The car dealer told me the car had 225hp. When I dynoed my car I had 201hp, and 201lb-ft. The guy told me that I have 240hp to the flywheel. Is that sound correct, is it 225hp to the flywheel stock, and 185hp to the wheels? Did any one dyno their 330i and have the same out come? |

| The weight of your vehicle does not affect your HP reading on a dyno. ![]() Dyno your car with one person sitting in it. Now have 3 people cram in the back seat, 1 person sit shot gun, and have another person lay down in the trunk and see if your HP and Torque readings change. ![]() The reason automatics dyno less is because of the torque converter and how it decreases your drivetrain's efficiency.

| Something's not right. His figure of 200 rwhp from 240 crank horsepower accounts for a 16.7% loss of power through the drivetrain, which is low for an automatic. I think the general concensus is that the automatic drains 20% of power, which would put you at 250hp at the crank. Unfortunately, Dinan stage 3 doesn't approach 250hp, maybe 240. The number your dealer gave of 185hp at the wheels stock would be for a manual transmission with about 17% loss through the drivetrain. Keep in mind that the dyno is not an incredibly accurate scientific gauge.
