I signed up as soon as the entry form was available on the web, but I still haven't received an application, so I am thinking that I did not get accepted. I'm still going to drive up to san francisco to watch them leave though. Maybe I'll get to drive with some of them for a little while. There is going to be some amazing cars this year!

Definitely going to have a DTM Meet for Gumball. I'll bring along a DV camcorder to catch all the action.

None taken, actually I went 170 in my friends porsche turbo back a few years ago. And no you dont go that fast at skip barber school the fastest you go is around 100.

And the civic tops out at 120mph.
like I said it would just be their for show, anyways how many of us could actually say to our kids some day that you were in the Gumball 3000, Not many "Dado" you got some stories to tell when the day comes around.

Holy shit, it's more expensive this year Anyway, sounds awesome, if they pass through Orlando or Tampa I'd like to be there when it happens Is there a site with the route they planning to take? Dado, are you planning on entering?
I dont think they release the info on the route because they dont want cops everywhere on the highways or media or whatever.

You guys know that they dont like people drivng with them, right? If you payed 12g's and someone just came along with you, would you be very happy? Anywho... we'll have to get a DTM meeting going in Miami for the finish line.

The 12g's isn't to be able to drive from SF to Miami...anyone can do that. It's to be "part" of the event, plus get access to private parties, hotels, etc.

I'd consider doing the SF to Vegas leg. I think it'd be fun to watch all the cars. Public streets, and highways...I pay my taxes...I have a right to drive where ever I want. But, I obiviously wouldn't expct to get a free room, or participate in the party...but in Vegas...I'm pretty sure I'd find my own entertainment

I'd be interesting to see if a stealth car w/ no stickers would get as many tickets as the cars with stickers. You probably wouldn't be included in the "group" pullovers by the cops.:

Anyone know about the Players Run they are doing next year? It's also 3000 miles, that goes from Miami to (I think) San Diego? I remember reading something about Teckademics doing coverage of that run. I dont know, but all these cross-country races sound soooo exciting! I wish I had the $$ to go on races like these!

Entry fee for the Players Run is much cheaper than for the Gumball. And Players Run has track events, drag strips etc.

We currently have a few places available. If you're up for participating in this cool driving event, NOW is the time to fill out the application on www.playersrun.net . The Players Run pre-event party was held on the 13th of December 2003 at one of the finest nightspots Hollywood has to offer: the Barfly. Even Hugh Hefner including his 7 playmates and actor Christopher Lambert showed up. That's only a foretaste. The main event is coming up in February 2003. You can see pictures of the pre-event party in the photo section on www.playersrun.net

Here are more information about the Players Run:

This Cannonballrun-style charity event is held between 15th February 2003 - 22nd February 2003. Players Run will start at a secret location on the 15th of February 2003. There you will receive your first clues which will lead you to the first driving event. From there you will continue to your first overnight stop. More than 2500 miles on the road, racetracks and other driving events and many more clues to solve are now awaiting you. You will almost touch the Mexican border, then make your way through Texas to New Orleans and from there down to Florida. The world will watch you and your competitors on TV and the Internet on your way to your final destination. You have to arrive in Miami in time to make it to the secret spot for the grand finale.

The event is only as competitive as you want it to be. We use a point system for every driving event. At the end we add up the points to declare the winner. On public highways only the time difference between the set time and the time given in the logbook will be taken into account. On 'closed roads events' the closest average time to your tech time gets you maximum points. On track events the fastest time brings in the most points. On drag strips and other tracks the winning time is calculated in again. This ensures an equal chance for every competitor to win.

We will also give you other interesting challenges to solve which again will count for overall. On the other hand you may just want to enjoy the route and some of the most beautiful scenery the southern US has to offer. Conscious of the peculiarities of supercars, their occasionally limited comfort and their low ground clearance, the Players Run organization has chosen a route that avoids too winding roads or poor surfaces. Either way in the case you get stuck you will have access to immediate assistance. Every day you will leave around 9.00 am (with you the destination address in a sealed envelope). No matter how competitive you want to be in this run, you will arrive with enough time to relax and reflect the amazing day at the pool before dinner. At the grand finale you will then hopefully be rewarded with an award. Despite being exhausted from this week you party into the night with your new friends.

The edge of this run is the mystery effect of the events for the drivers, that's why we cannot give out too many details about it in public.

Entry fee for one car / 2 persons is US $ 7500.- and includes charity, hotels, meals, all events, all tracks, transportation, photo production, gear, service and more. Players Run is an 'by invitation only' event. If you have any questions about the event, please, do not hesitate to contact us.

Players Run is an 'by invitation only' event. So just fill out the online application form:
