| We did it on my Mom's 540 6 speed, and it was fun. You basically go to the dealer, wait a minute or two, then they show you around the car and then its yours. We just drove her car for the day then took it to the shipper. It is right by where all the m cars are. We stopped by there are saw the e46 m3 before it was here, and a e39 m5 touring. Its fun, it has no downsides.

| My parents are doing the same for delivery of their 530. You must go to a local BMW dealer and order the car at least 6 months in advance, with all the options you want etc. Then you must plan out the trip to europe itself. However, BMW itself provides tours you can take with your new car ![]() The pro's include, the money you save on the car, pays for the trip, well a chunk of it anyways, another pro...you get to drive your brand new car around europe ![]() Cons : you gotta pay for a trip to europe, and if you hate travelling..then dont bother ![]() There are virtually no pros, unless you hate travelling and spending money. - Jon

| yeah european deliver sounds sooo sik. Too bad you can't go past 100 mph or 4.5k rpm or so due to the break in. Cuz i'd be so tempted to max her out on the autobahn, but u just received ur car.... Very Tempting ![]()

| Before we go, I'm going to pick up my international driver's license at the local AAA office. Yeah I wish we could max out the speed on the new E39, but it would need to be broken in, and I'm sure my dad wouldn't have a problem pushing it on the Autobahn. He lived in europe for quite some time as a teenager. Quote:
I'm trying to save some money to bring back some european parts for my E30 when we go. But we'll see what happens. I really want an M-tech 2 kit, as well as other goodies that are rare here in the States. I plan on backpacking through Europe for a good amount of time after I complete school, or when I have the time and the money. My dad is willing to finance the trip if I go, since he lived there for such a long time, he feels its necessary for me to go. ![]() Ahh.. I can't wait ![]() - Jonathan

| My uncle did it with his 330ci. Basically picked a color package that is not avail. in the US. Drove around Eruope for a month then had it shipped back to the US. He save a lot more that what is posted on the BMW website. In fact even after he had driven it for a month the US dealer said they would gladly take it and pay they cost + expenses.... I'd do it if I had the time & money to buy a new car. Even better if you have family there...buy it and leave it there for a while...I think you may be able to get out of sales tax. |

| how does this sound: picking up the E46 M3 in Germany in May at the plant, with possible, i mean POSSIBLE options as those found on the interior of the CSL the only thing the BMW website doesn't say is the price, in terms of savings, of the M's for Euro delivery. Should i order through local US dealership of just phone direct to a dealer in Germany? |
