| hey hey guys im 17 now and i got my m3 when i was 16 and every1 seems to have had a problem with it. now in retrospect, i would give a kid something else for the first few months to learn on and maybe crash. also there are a lot of jealous people. its mainly the jealousy in people that people express.

| I think that getting the car at the age of 16 or whatever is not the point that should be looked at. The point is, how are the parents teaching their children the value of money. Are they going to be able to afford a nice car later in life without the help of any financial gifts when they are on their own? Are they being taught to invest, to save and possibly sleep on ideas of spending large amounts of money on impulsive purchases? How does that old proverb go? You can fish for a man and he can eat once or you can teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime. (something like that) |

| It's annoying to hear a lot of you saying how "inexperianced" you were a few years ago, but now it's ok because you are a good driver. Anyone under the age of 25 has no right to be saying they are an experianced driver (with some extenuating circumstances). People who auto-x or take many drivers classes maybe have some right. People who drive A LOT (i have to go from DC to Indiana to Cincinnati to Chicago every few months, but by no means have I been an "aged" driver) might have the right to "good driver" status. However, the fact remaians that in 5 years you can in no way have the experiance that drivers in their 30s and 40s have. Different situations in different cars under different conditions. As a side note, I can understand parents giving nice cars to children to learn. a nice 318ti or 325/328 would be nice for someone young to learn on (E30 or E36). But a new E46 M3? Not only is are you putting your son or daughter at more risk with a car like that, but you're wasting money on insurance. Childern need to learn to respect the road more before they are able to truly handle something like an M3/M5. -Prince |

| Well im sure youve all heard this scenario before, but I am 16 and I am the proud owner of a 98 328is. I split the cost of the car in half with my parents for having good grades, and payed for my half by working for 3 years as a busboy to afford my car and all its mods which I knew I wanted since I started working for it. After I bought my car a kid in my grade showed up on the scene with a brand new 330ci, you might say I was a little blown away because his parents fronted the cash for his car, whats more is that he had to rub it in by applying an annoying "BMW Motorsport" sticker. I was a little jealous but in time, and with a few mods, my car was faster so it was all good. 4 weeks later this kid reports that his parents bought him an e36 racecar. Now im gettin a little frustrated at the fact that he now owns 2 BMW's as if one wasnt enough. Bt still I cant be jealous because I love my car wouldnt trade it for anything. 5 months later, this same kid now shows up at highschool rockin a laguna seca blue 2002 M3, complements once again of his parents, and again sporting the annoying sticker. This really made me question my sanity and came to the conclusion that my town sucks. well what do I have to do now add a frickin turbo, whats worse is that the kid is a complete a$$hole all of his life and still is. You might say hes a tad spoiled. 2 days ago I received word that his 15 year old brother is now the proud owner of a lightweight e36 M3 with full suspension work done (no joke) startin early I see, well just thought id vent my frustration

This is too funny. My parents did the exact opposite, but if I have kids I would probably do the same thing as this poster. Its Cool to have nice car, but its also cool to learn and appreciate what you have. I don't think its jealousy. Just being worried about the safety of your child. Knowing what I know I would probably give them VW or a honda. NO MUSTANG, M3, S4, OR AMG.Last edited by Lovinbms : 04-05-2002 at 04:50 PM. |

| While your at it, make sure your kid doesn't see R movies before he turns 17, wouldn't want to hurt his virgin mind. Also, be sure to get the latest censorship software to protect him from the evils of the internet. Ok so I'm being sarcastic, but if my parents ever even thought about putting telemetry shit in my car I would prolly smack em ;p /shrug, I can see where your coming from from a parent point of view, but theres a point to where you need to stop being overprotective..thats my opinion. All the kids I know that have overprotective parents are a little on the goofy side. Not that I'm saying your kid is, but shit I mean some of these people I know have to check in with their friggen parents every hour and crap, you just wanna shake em and say BACK THE FEK UP biatch~@! |

| i havent read the replies but i got my first BMW when i was 15. i'm not spoiled. i pay for everything on my car including payments and insurance. whoever looks at me and makes a face i just flick them off and get them back. If i drive a better car then you that should make you think about yourself, not me. I mean some people should mind their own business and not hate, apreciate ![]()

| holy shit, INAUX, your car is the ****ing car i lusted for!! i remember almost a year ago or so, albert posted pics of a 330ci with the full hamann treatment that was brought in to wheelpower and paid for by the grandparents, and that guy is u!! sick car!! as with me, im 17 and have had my m3 for about a month now, and my parents worked really hard to afford the best for us, they came from another country and had to learn a new language and now they are successful, and they are happier now that they bought me the car because to them ive become a better person, go figure as with the shit i get, mostly from classmates, and especially from teachers kinda sucks, but in a way it makes me proud of my family and their hard work..... i mean if you had the choice between wearing a K-mart brand clothing or Gucci, and you could afford the gucci, why the hell not go for it?

| Your poll is rigged anyways. 70% of the people on here are under 24 and in some way have been granted money from their parents. Point being, who gives a shit. My parents taught me the values of life and thats more important then the materials they give me. I understand when if and when I get into the "real world" there is not ****ing way in hell I would be able to afford the shit I have. I would hardly be able to afford my honda. I realize that I am lucky... most people are not as lucky as I am. If you cant accept people have better things then you or feel, call up Hitler. Sorry fellas, this isnt a communistic society.
