But you drive an 87 325i, how much can that car be? I thinking they are debating more on the amount it cost to purchase a BMW, not on if you have one or not at age 16.

I am 18 years old, and drive a 98 M3/4 Auto, first car was a 96 infiniti I30, and up until recently I haven't had any accidents, tickets or any such adventures. I work hard in school, go to a great college (USC), my parents trust me and taking all that into account I dont consider myself being spoiled. Deffinetly I am lucky and my parents do the best they can for me, like I someday hope to do for my kids.

Recently I have been in some trouble however regarding my car, and I readily admit that I was being stupid. Going way too fast on a mountain road I slid my car into a metal road barrier causing about 6 thousand in damage. I've learned my lesson and understand that my car's power and handling abilities were probably the only reason I was up there in the first place. But accidents happen to anyone and its not always age related, but afterall there are mistakes that we make when we are young, and its best to make them early, learn from them and go on.

So if a kid has problems, crashed in their expensive and poweful car, then if they are worthy of the car and mature for their age, they will learn from it and not make the same mistake again, if not then its obvious that a mistake may have been made.

So I think there shouldn't be any bad mouthing kids with expensive cars, parents should be more responsible in observing their kids actions and making sure that the child is mature for his/her age.

Everyone is in different phases of their life on this site. So nobody is going to think the same. If the same question was posed to my lil bro who already had 2 accidents, he would probably say Y you trying to keep me down E? let me have the m3.

Simply put experiences are shaping peoples opinions. You may not like the opinion, thats fine. Then lets agree to disagree.

Last word on the topic.

Peace.

Im 19 and my M3 was mostly paid for by my mom...My other car was stolen and without a car i guess she felt bad that i put all my work and money into that and then got ****ed by the insurance...personally i don't feel bad that my mom paid for a good percentage of the car...i would do the same for my kids later on in life if i was in a situation where i could..Ten years ago my mom couldn't even afford a car now she makes enough money where she has a lexus, i have my M3 and my brother has a new GTI. I also don't how fast the m3 is really has anything to do with if a kid should get it, i mean my first car that i bought my self and put all my money into was alot faster than my M3, i also bought a street bike when i was 17, that is something that in my opinion is alot more dangerous than any M, if anything i think the m3 is one of the easiest somewhat fast cars too drive, it accelerates fast but very smoothly, unlike my last car in which when the boost kicked in you had to do all you do to control it from not goin all over the place.

well..im 17, just got my license last summer and look what i drive..a 1994 explorer..ive paid for everything in the car and do most of the work on it myself..its nowhere NEAR any of the cars on the board but I'm proud knowing that I work 2 jobs and go to school 5 days and my parents havent helped me..but the one thing I think almost all these kids are missing is the ethic of working hard.. you cant get experience in school of working 9-10 hours etc..i've recently got into BMW's and by the time im through with college hopefully I'll be doing well enough to have one ( commercial pilot ) im just on this board to gain knowledge and drool

This is my experience...My first car was 87 volve that my grandma crashed 5 times!!! I drove it during high school...I didnt really care. It's just a car. I hated school and cut my freshman and sophmore year. The start of my junior year I was told I couldn't graduate. I was like shit!!! I told my parents and they were upset. My parents told me if I grad. some how that they'll order me a beemer of choice up to 40k. So I was hella excited. I had school for both years from 5:30am till 6:30pm everyday. And I did it. If they just gave it to me. I wouldnt of appreciated it as much as I do. I believe in you get what you deserve! So if these kids get beemers for first cars then they must be doing something right. Congrats, but don't let it get to your head.

Hey man, I was just giving him a hard time because he was trying to mock a guy for stating his opinion too. It's all good.

Now can I ask you one question. How old are you??? It is all nice and good to say you are going to buy your children this and that. But you first have to earn the money to do that. What do you do for a living????

Have you experienced the real world yet??? Thinking you are going to make....and actually making the money are COMPLETELY two different things. You sure do have some big dreams there, exotic car when he graduates???? Just curious.

i dont think its a matter of being rich or not. a car is a car is a car and i dont think anyone can say because he got an expensive car, he wont know the value of work and money. every kid takes a fortune to raise, a car doesnt make up that much of the money. you can truly say you know the value of work and money when you work for the money that pays for your food, shelter, clothing, education, and all your belongings.

those that say kids are spoiled because their parents gave them a car are hypocrites if they depended on their parents for major financial support through life.

don't wanna prejudge anything or anybody.
I'm 20 - worked my *** off since I was 15, my mom is the same way, it's really taught to be here on your own in a new country. Don't have the priveledge to own a car like that - just yet... A kid at 16 owing an e46 - if he/she earned the money for it themselfes - it's fine with me... but if that was a gift, sorry don't agree with that.

Yes it's a great, SAFE car and all... but 16!? He/she would just get their license, put the money into education or something. Although, maybe some kid deserve it. I would like to make the money on my own, and get a car for my MOM, not other way around.

uhhh it's too confusing. I don't have anything against it, but I don't agree with it either.

Here is Sarasota, you will see a lot of kids that drive PHAT cars.
and there is nothing wrong with that.

Whats wrong... Kids can't drive nice cars? Put your self in their position. I bet, you be driving that car same way, you drove your car at 16y.o. Car is a piece of metal. Whats important, is your attitude, and your heart. There is a**holes, that drive a piece of sh*t cars, and there a**holes that drive PHAT cars.

I am pretty sure, if I will have kid(s) one day, and have money... I will do same thing. Hey... life is short-enjoy it!!!

im going to say one more thing

any car is just as dangerous as a bmw in the hands of a 16 year old. the 16 year olds that should have the right to their cars should be the ones that have the maturity to use the car within their driving abilities. any reckless person behind the wheel of a car can be a danger to other motorists. why would you confine the last choice to only 16 year olds. sure they are younger, and sure some are immature, but the fact is that there are drivers of all ages that shouldnt be behind a wheel. people who get road rage, the uncoordinated, and those with no attention span. 16 year olds are young, but they are not babies, and a bmw is no more dangerous than any other car.
