I like this engine..
for putting in E30 3.2 is easier, but there are some problems with EWS and wheel speed sensor

When i decided to make this conversion ,, i had no clue how much work this would be ,,,,

the engine is from 92 M5 Touring,, 3.8 L gearbox 5 speed E34 M5 brakebooster + mastecylinder ((25 mm)) VERY GOOD brakes imo
300mm.de engine mounts, + selfmade 20 mm alu-adapter to lower the engine subframe,,

in Januar 2008 the car was sent to TAUBER Motorsport in Germany,, for some minor modification ,,, www.tauber-motorsport.de
rebuidt cylenderhead and installing oem M5 airbox,, gauges for differential-heat.. oil pressure and watertemp.. + some elictrical adjustment for the enginemanagment,, needed horsepower,, and they found out the ECU was not getting the speed signal

pictures + other car pictures

#) here is the car in TAUBER garage

#) Engine bay ,, i like the EVO II color-combinaton from E30 M3 and ,,,, there is the idea + mine ,, trumpet @ M /// colorcode etc.

#) engine bay

#) engine

#) GAUGES

#) adapter

#) Treehouseracing ball joint

#) exhaust

#) more exhaust

#) oem M3 instrumentboard w/ M20 6 cyl chip showing ca. 10 more than real,, 3000 rpm on odo are 2650 real rpm

#) E34 M5 booster

#) BRAKE fluid + plumbing

#) CABRIO + ALPINA @ Nürburgring May 2009

#) CABRIO

What you MUST do ,, to get the engine running well and so on

1) lower the subframe... MUST (( dont start to remix the oilpan ,, the engine must go down anyway because you can NOT close the bonnet otherwise

2) www.300mm.de - Bremsanlagen und Motorhalter fr BMW E30 engine mounts,,,, again ,,stop trying to do this by your self,, it doesnt cost so much ,, but ,, it is possible that you have to make som fine adjustment on the mounts because of the headers,, take something away with a cutter,,

3) BRAKEBOOSTER,,, try ix or e34 M5,, you must redrill new holes and move the booster 15 mm to the left,, you can also use VW or hydralic or whatever
but if you prefer oem BMW this is the easy way

4) SPEEDSIGNAL,, very very importand if the ECU is not getting the signal then the power from the engine is like reving from idle on 0 km

5) all the right wires must be right done ,, so ABS and all other things are working right best info is on www.300mm.de - Bremsanlagen und Motorhalter fr BMW E30

try S50B3x thats the easiest swapp

I bet you a E30 M3 with a stock 4 cylinder will beat it on the track. I love the paint job.

Depends on what kind of track we are talking about,,

oem E30 M3 have no chance on a fast average high speed track,, but on a very twisty track my Cabrio have no chance at all

oem E30 M3 have a nice semi neutral balance,,

fantastic track-car with a real racing setup

EXACTLY THE BIG CAST IRON 6 REALLY WIND UP ON THE STRAIGHT BUT PLOW IN THE CORNER. THE TORQUE DOESN'T COULD IF YOU LOOSE YOUR CORNER SPEED. THE LITTLE OPPOSING SIX WILL STAY AHEAD OF YOU.

I DID NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE CAR CAUSE THE ENGINE WAS SO AMAZING TO SEE. THE CAR IS A DOLL, NICE SHAPE. IS IT THE POWER ROOF? IT MIGHT BE BALANCED NOW. I REMEMBER WHEN THE LITTLE M3 WAS BEING PICKED FOR NOT HAVING A 6. ARE THE RIMS TWO OR THREE PIECE?

The wheels are 2 piece BBS RC035 and RC038

better known as BBS style 5

the car have a complete E30 M3 wheel conversion
5x120 ,,,

the wheight is 1440 kg. dry incl 30L fuel

got 13.28 at the 1/4 @ 107 mph.. that is a GOOD time on worn tires 38 psi
and the car as heavy as it is

i guess the wheight % of the car is 65-70 front and 35-30 rear ,, actually very bad ,,,,
the top is manual

Reaaaaly Quick

I love the rims I have two piece on my E36 very rare 7 spoke with the sport suspension Cab. Last year one rim got loose so I went hunting for bolt as the nut were stripped. They were made by BBS as yours were. I saw a wrecked M5 E34 over at Repo Depo the other day. The car is junk, dash fire! but the engine looked okay. You can never tell on the 3.8, it can be a fusy engine if not taken care of. Your car is lighting quick. I have a modified vintage Triumph Motorcycle which is just barely quicker. The Alpinia parked in front of you is a doll also.
I have seen an article on this engine swap some where on the net. Not an easy job.

S50B3x Euro model is the best 6 cyl, swap,, if we are talking about power

but today i would think about LSx if i would live in North America

in EU i would go for S62,, there are so many engines available now ,, all over Germany,, not bad to have 400 bhp and 500 nm + a great weight ratio
