Depends on how much you want to spend I say go for SR20DET.

it's the motor out of a japanese spec nissan 240sx. me and a buddy of mine just dropped one in his car. it's a nice engine. 4cyl and turbo, easy to work on, and fairly cheap when talking about engines.

The SR20DE(t) is a great motor for sure, but if you are restoring a 2002, you just can't throw something japanese in the engine bay. Stick with something BMW! I would stick with the M10 btw

i agree. it bugs me when people mix manufacturers. i'd stick with BMW parts. it's a more respectful way to go.

+1

I say S14. Keeps it light and you can get plenty of power N/A out of it. Definitely enough to make a 2002 really move.

s14's cost ALOT - just go check out what they run for over on s14.net - best resource if you go that route btw

go for a turbo m10 2.2 liter running VEMs

what's with everyone and their mom on this board always swingin on the nut sack of jap motors? cheap, sure, keep the value of your car up? i doubt it.
