m3 e36 horsepower 240 or 321???

a e36 m3 i know has 240 hp but some wedsites like wikipidedia says they have 321? isnt it just the evo that has 321hp im totally confused if anyone could help me out it would be awesome.

The euro spec 3.2L was 321 hp, US spec 3.2L was 240hp
Just reread the E36 section it explains everything

The answer is "yes"...

Both are correct; depending on which car you are talking about - the second flavor of the e36 offered in europe or the second flavor of the e36 offered in the US.

Since you are in Canada; it gets worse... The _first_ flavor offered was 286 hp and functionally the same (S50B30) as the euro version; the second flavor offered in Canada was the 240hp version that is functionally the same ("S52" aka M50B32) as the US 3.2L version.

So in other words - S50B32 = 321hp and S52 = 240hp... Both are the second gen 3.2L e36 M3's...

you probably could if you wanted. However, I would bet it would be a lot cheaper to just do a euro engine swap. Also you could watch the classifieds like a hawk, its not uncommon for someone to sell a euro swapped car.

The US S50 was rated for lower power, where as in the Euro Spec had true numbers. Torque numbers are usually the same.

A friend of me here in Greece had an 3.2 engine US to his car.

The power is good.

It can be compare it with the Euro model, even with the 3.0 with 286Hp.

But with a few mods, can be close to 260+ and be a really good car.
