what's good peoples. Man I'm so lost right now. When I bought my car as an automatic it came w a 5speed manual pedals, computer, cross arm, clutch everything that i'm aware of. So far I can't find a mechanic to do the work or for that matter feels comfortable with doin it. Of all the the mechanics I spoke to one was actually able to explain why he felt it would be extremely costly and uncertain of the outcome of the vehicles longevity after the switch. My other issue is I have a leaking head gasget, with that problem I was seriously considering the 91i head but now i'm not sure if I should replace both moto and trans in one shot. Anyone with any insight advice constructive crit give it please.

So you have a hermaphrodite for a BMW? I'm not sure I understand where you vehicle is currently in the gender swap.

Personally I would just swap in a 5 speed tranny (no pun intended), drive shaft, and change the head gasket.

That is a weird situation where someone swapped in an auto, They must have been in a pinch.

What mechanics are you speaking with? I've never met a real mechanic who would turn down a challenge, and cash to fund his expedition. Except the oil change pro's at VIP. I can definitely see how they would be intimidated.

The hard parts already done. The pedals are in, all you need to do is a transmission & drive shaft swap, and run a line for the clutch slave cylinder. Give a call to a transmission shop and get a quote for labor only.

It's easy to find parts cheap. I've got a whole 5 speed E30 parted out in my garage if you should need anything.
