Question about Non-BMW

Okay. Before i start, i just wanna say its been A WHILE since ive posted anything on DTM so if this is in the wrong section, i apoligize.

Anyways. So i have a 01 Audi A6 4.2Q. not a bad car. and over on VWvortex, i asked a question with no response. So i figured i come back to good old dtm to ask my question in hopes of a response.


I was advised by a friend of mine to cut out my resonator and/or exhaust. He told it was cheap and added great sound with no performance upgrade/downgrade.

My question is: is it a good idea to go ahead and do this? is it a waste of $60? im not looking for any performance. Just a sound increase. Any information is good information.

A friend of mine has an Audi S4 conv.. V8 4.2.
He cut the rear exhaust, rear mufflers, and replaced only pipes.
What a great V8 sound. Absolut incredibly.
No more power, but the sound is amazing.

If you like getting pulled over for noise violations do it. I don't know a lot about Audi's and what size of exhaust piping they have or like, but I'm going to guess that the loss of back pressure is going to negatively affect your performance.
