Wow, that is quite the project. I would assume you would need motor mounts. as far as drivetrain goes, i think it may be feasible to use the current drivetrain, of course you may want to re-freshen it. You may want to search to see what e34 5 series owners have done. The e34 was available with an 8 cyl, so i figure that drivetrain may be better suited then what you currently have. Not to mention they may have a list of parts that they would recommend. If you need a hand sussing out the info i may be able to help you search, send me a PM.

The transmission is not likely to bolt up. The bellhousing patterns will most likely be different. In addition, you will need to wire up the ecu to work in the car, and some other electricals. Anything is possible, but it will take time and money.

I want that v8 sound. I even thought of the usual m3/5 engines and when finances allowed forced induction. But it's the v8 sound i like so i've set my heart on a v8 conversion.

RB26 would be awesome james. Just remeber to upgrade the turbos, as they are quite weak. Awesome motor, world class.
As for the V8, it would be a cool swap. Keep us updated. Did you consider the M5 V8 swap?

Itsabimmerthing I have thought about it but it's the price that has worried me off. Unless you or anyone knows of a realisticly priced.

I have been looking around at other engines that might be cheaper but supply more power. The most likely would be a supra twin turbo.

Modifications for a 2jzgtte are anything but cheap lol. They can make stupid power, but are not cheap. Cheap alternatives are 4g63t, sr20.....

Would be cool, but I couldnt do it to a 6er. I love the 6er.
My number 2 dream bimmer is a 6er with a s50. I would love to have a kick ass setup like that. Turbo s50 in a 6 FTW!!!

I totally agree with you both, but i have this eternal struggle thats going on, on one hand i want the beauty of a bmw v8 which has a good chunk of bhp to start with, then their is the sound that chills me to my very core. On the other hand their is the supra engine sounds good comes standard at approx 300bhp as standard and after doing research i have found out that 600bhp can be ran on standard internals with no problems even a 1000+bhp can be run, a couple of drag teams here in the uk have done that with very little problems they believe it to be the most overly engineered engine by the manufacturer ever. So do you see my dilemma?
