| How i get an US- Registration for my European M5 I move in the middle of 2008 to florida and i want to take my car with me. i hope someone can tell me what i have to do to get the US- numberplates. Thanks, Cheers, Peter      |

| Which model ///M5? I assume if its the E39 it wont be hard at all. Its not like youre trying to import a european E12 5 series which had LOTS of differences both in the emmisions, to the bumpers, to the lights, etc. Mariano

| Wow! A Euro spec M5!!! Its a shame that it has to be converted, but even after all the smog and additional b.s. US spec items this will still be a unique ride. If you're required to change any body components, make sure you have onto them...there's quite a premium for those items here. A huge welcome to the US for you, my friend! | You would only have to convert for the smog and maybe customs. Once thats done, you can put all the original parts back on and no one will be the wiser

| Florida from what i have heard is a very lax state as far as emission controls go. So once you pass the initial federal inspection it should be downhill from there.

| Seems like you have a lot of work on your hands. It has to be imported over here properly with proper documentation. Which means it has to be in pieces. Second you have to contact DMV to get Highway Patrol to inspect the car. Once inspected you apply for kit car status. And after 5 years of waiting you can have it.
