| you just need to drive the car the way it was ment to be driven. and that means hitting the redline sometimes, but i rev-match everywhere. i have an e30. |

| I dont know how fast you drive, but i need to touch the redline to drive fast. Next to my City we have a 10km straight on our Autobahn with no Speed Limit. My new car reaches 230-240km / h, than i need to hit the redline. Mostly i shift around 1800-2500 because i need to safe fuel. 10$ a gallon ^^

| Yes the Bosch Motronic DME saves info in volatile memory about the difference from the base map your particular gas (and air) needs to ignite efficiently. If you disconnect the battery for a while - you'll find that it resets to the "hard coded" default map... It takes a couple tanks of gas to get it adjusted to a different grade of fuel (within it's limited range of adjustment)... Until it does, you'll probably notice a lack of power under WOT; mostly because the knock sensor goes off and the whole system retards the timing a whole bunch to compensate. It basically figures out exactly how much it can advance the timing based on your air (above sea level) and your grade of fuel... So stick with whatever gas you use.

| Drive it like you stole it. I have a track prepped 328is with over 160k miles on it that gets driven to the limit many weekends out of the year and it still runs like new. BMWs are designed to be driven hard. If you baby your BMW you probably should just park it in your living room and use its looks as a conversation piece. I also drive my e30 M3 to the limit when i bring her out and that little four banger loves to scream. You have to let your BMW stretch the legs. |

| I have an m50 with m3 cams in it and a custom chip. I rag the piss out of it to 7 grand all day long. 156,000 miles strong. No problems. Not reccommending this kind of driving, but I'm pretty sure your not hurting anything. |

| before my 325i i owned a e34 525i i bought it with 200,000 on it.and i sold it to my bother and he kept it untill 240,000 miles on it and he told me that it was still running strong..you cant go wrong with BMW.there the shit! |

| I always let mine properly get up to temperature before its driven hard, until its warmed up its kept at 3k rpm and below. Once its warm the rev limiter is the only thing that normally stops me I have broken alot of parts on the car though! So if you drive them hard you end up reaching into your pockets alot, mine is drifted fairly regularly so i've had to replace / reinforce quite a few things. ![]() ![]() |
