Saw this picture over at 6speed, you have a different name over there?

Do you have any info on this rally? Cuz I am not understanding the whole drive your car on the salt flats concept (other then no speed limit that is)

Yeah, I posted on 6speed as well. This was just one event of the rally, which goes across America. Being on the salt is a surreal experience, as it is so flat that you can actually see the curvature of the earth. If the concept of 40 square miles of perfectly flat surface area doesn't seem appealing to you as a car enthusiast, I'm not sure I can say anything else to make you think differently. Maybe the video will help

Check out AKA Rally 2007: Cross Country American Car Rally: Salt Lake City to Atlantic City for videos from previous events, other photos, etc.
Chris

Meh, I can reach top speeds on real roads over here, minus the salt

Does look like fun, organized chaos with a bunch of others!

Sadly, my m5 has been reflashed by the dealer at some point, so it topped out at 157mph well before the 1 mile mark on the track

Top speed was 183mph by a Twin Turbo 350z. The altitude and 91 octane definitely didn't help!

No speed limits on paved roads certainly are awesome, but there's absolutely still something special about doing it on the salt

Have a question - how car drives on salt? Tire grip, behaviour, stability...?
