in silver its badass looking, and their is definetly e36 influence mixed with the e46. but i think bmw is losing some of its soul. everytime i read an interview with some of the heads at bmw, be it their designers or engineers they make some stupid statement that their more global instead of German. what kind of dumb shit is that. one of the reasons people by and have bought bmws in the past is cause of the german engineering. i think for my next car im gonna jump ship over to Porsche where they revel and embrace being from Germany and being German, and not looking like everything else out their. PORSCHE is a real sports car company anyway. one of the reason i fell in love with bmw as a kid was cause of the M3 and they learning about the 3.0 and 3.5 csl's and other coupes from bmw's glorious past. but they care more about the brie and wafer types than the enthusiast, and its starting to show in their cars.sorry for the offtopic rant.

i duno, so many past bmw owners are having a hard time realizing that in order to keep their heads above water, bmw HAS to push forward. they can't keep their retro thinking, they can't keep the styling the same, they can't use the same technology... its not that they are becoming less german, its not that they are losing heritage, they are simply trying to compete with other manufacturers like lexus, infinity, and audi, all of which are coming out with serious competitors for the m3. yes, i like the styling of the e46, and i feel like this will take some getting used to, but nonetheless its a step forward, and i bet most of you will come around sooner or later

100% Agree. BMW's gene pool is becoming impure. Driving is no longer thier highest concern. Now they are trying to push for the luxury segment more. Looking at the difference between the current 3-series and an e36 I would say that in 10 years BMW's are going to be just another luxury car. They are trending away from driver oriented cars and focusing on selling lots of cars to all the stupid idiots out there who have too much money and no idea what kind of car to buy.

how many old gay men do i have to shag before i can put that engine in my e36! lol its lighter than my engine yet produces so much more power when the prices for those engines come down... maybe i'll transplant it into an e30... always wanted to do something like that with one of those cars.

So goes the inevitable march of technology. I don't think the E92 M3 is bad...in fact, I'll probably love it when I drive it. However, I hear and sympathize with everyone who's frustrated over BMW's direction. I agree to an extent...but I also understand why they have to do what they're doing. Not to mention the fact that the new M3 will probably haul some serious ass.

I think that it looks & sounds bloody unreal. Its not over 'bangalized' like the Z4 or 7 and it does have classic BMW lines/looks. *Except the doors are blatantly stolen from the Porsche 911. Can't wait to see one in the flesh

I want an e30 m3 more than any other car in the BMW series/age range.

So do a lot of other people.

That should tell you a lot about where the company has gone and where it is going.
