Mercedes service/oil light reset (not mine! lol)

I reset my oil service reminder after every oil change using the paper clip trick.

My granddad's Merc needs to have the same thing done, I'm not sure if it will work on a Merc. I can't even find the data port.

Is there a way to reset it on a Merc without the tool (i.e. Paper clip method)?

It's a 2001 C230 Kompressor.

Btw, the supercharger sounds badass... but doesn't threaten the M3 the least bit though.

You use a paper clip and ground pins 7 and 19. 5 seconds for oil reset, 10 seconds for service reset.

There is a way to get into the diagnostic mode with the readout on the dash cluster, but I dont really recall how, or if it works back in 2001...ill do a little research....

This is for A class, so it may be useless information, but here goes...

The "Wrench" symbol will appear in the odometer field to indicate it is time to service the vehicle. To reset, turn the ignition key to position 2. Immediately press the button next to the display twice within one second. The present status for days or distance will be displayed. Within 10 seconds, turn the ignition key to the 0 position. Press and hold the button while turning the key to position 2 again. The status for days or distance will be displayed again; continue to hold the button. After 10 seconds, a signal will sound and the display will show 10,000 miles (15,000 km). Release the button.
