Run a diagnotics. But e36's ussualy have problems with the seat belt buckle. Hopefully it is that because on my car it was the airbag module and was like 500 to fix. I never did though.

IIRC, it could be the slip ring behind the steering wheel, too. That's what mine is when it's not the d/s seatbelt latch being flaky.

The slip ring does not have a fault code in the book, nor an SRS connection. The airbag has one, so whoever told you it was the slip ring is ripping you off.

The airbag connects through the slip ring, so if the slip ring is faulty, you get an airbag fault. I replaced the slip ring myself and solved the problem.

Just last night my airbag sensor came on, it came on as soon as i was leaving GMU gym parking lot at school, which is slopped down (i reveresed up a hill basically), the next traffic light was 400ft away so i restarted the car and the airbag light went away.

Then about 5mins later it came on when what seemed to be a modest but more than normal acceleration in second gear. Now its on most the time..

I also started to hear the infamous wheel squeek about a week ago. Are chances high that these two are combined, and its the slip ring?

the SRS light will not go off in obdII E36s unless reset.

it could be a nothing glitch. get it reset and odds are it will stay off.

if it does come back.. my bet is pass seat occupancy sensor, or a seatbelt tensioner.
