Yo Dado

I had a question. That BMW turbo M3 of yours. I would assume that is not smog legal in california. But could you recomend some one who can do performance mods that is smog legal in California. That would be the best, having a car doing about 400+ hp and be perfectly legal to drive around in my neck of the woods. I would apreciate it.

yes, keep in mind a post on DTM is available to some 30k people....but you are only trying to reach one person.

A more appropriate title and thread would be asking the general DTM folks about their suggestions

Just move out of california. And I remember seeing thick black smoke come out of the side exit of Dado's car in one of the mischief vids, so I have a hunch its not legal in 85% of the states. But, I could be wrong.

The title change has been noted for the future and thanks for your guys imput. If i get the chance to, I will be moving to somewhere in the midwest where (thank god) there is no smog laws. I lived in missouri for a while and all they checked was that your horn, lights, and windshield wipers worked, and to see if your exhaust system was installed. As far as dado's car is concerned, that is what i assumed, but not sure if he had it set up to where it would pass smog checks (cause i am not sure what the laws are on the east coast).

east coast: pre 1984: anything goes, 84- 1996: dynorun smog, nox and something else get checked, 96 and up is an OBD II plug in to check DME codes. Turbos can be made to pass if tuned properly.

Not entirely true for all of the East Coast....my dad has a 1973 MG Midget, and they run a smog test on it in NJ. Stupid f*ckers down there...and people wonder why I don't want to move back.

Unless you are tracking it or "drifting" why would you need a 400 bhp m3?????
If you own one, isn't there enough power to get you in trouble whenever you want?

Well, I don't have my M3 yet, but my uncle owns a 96 and he is getting ready to sell it. I think 400hp is a magical number, enough power to get into trouble and enough power to race at the local track.

Yeah, they can be. My car passes inspection here in MA just fine, but from what I understand, it would fail in NJ on visual inspection alone.

Hmmm...I just realized. You're the guy Dan (from BPG) said I should talk to about getting some work done on my car (fix some dents, some paint touchup, paint new front bumper cover). I'll give you guys a call when I have a bunch of cash to spare. From what Dan tells me, you're the only place to go for this
