| Engine Warmup? any suggestions? Usually, I warm the engine for about 4minutes while occationally increasing RPMs to 2500 ( on a 60degree weather) Then once I take off I punch it to redline for 1st and 2nd gear and then drive normally until it gets to normal temperature. Any disadvantages of that? *it has a supercharger.

| It's bad for the engine because the metal hasnt had time to expand properly and nor reach optimum operating temperature. Limiting the rev's stops you doing damage to your car at high revs, because the engine is working alot harder, moving faster and if it's not warmed up then bad things happen. Whenever i drive the car, i get it warmed up for a few minutes before i thrash it (ie. till the temp gauge reads middle.) Do your car a favour, don't thrash it till it's ready. |

| Takes what? 5 minutes to get the water temp up. But it takes up to 15min to get the oil up to working temp. I never push it before the oil temp is up.

| usually try to refrain from thrashing anything i drive for atleast until the water temp gauge reaches normal. preferably a little longer so everythings up to temp.

| i have heard that 1 minute at startup is sufficient, and then after that keep it below 3K or below 45mph for another minute or two.. good point on oil temp, though...

| I always let my car warm to operating temp before I beat it hard, if I just go to drive it, I let it idle about 1 minute.

| i usually wrap a warm blanket around my engine, keeps it from getting hypothermia also!

| It sure helps when you have a very early or very late model ///M car with oil temp gauge. The oil doesnt have the same friction reducing properties when its not warm. More friction=more wear. Best way to warm up an engine is by driving it, not by letting it sit. Not in modern cars anyways. Dont take it above 4K until the oils warm. I do that religiously. Mariano

| ^ agreed, i dont know if this applies to super chargers or not but my buddy had an s4 2001, and he would never let it warm up, and turbos preform best when cold, but its not good for them, anyways he was careless, and one day i was driving behind him and he gunned it, all of a sudden i heard two loud pops and white smoke was spilling from his exhaust, he kept driving his car but his car sounded like an rc car and was winding, he blew both of his turbos, this car only had 40K on it, he had a warranty and he go them replaced, but he always lets it warm up for like 7 minutes, and when he stops his car he sits in it while its runing for like 10, just to let his turbos cool, again i dont know is its the same for super chagers because they work differently, but they still boost so i would look into it
