| You can make those taillights for less than $10. VERY easy. Just get some fine grit sandpaper, and some "Testors" candy apple red model paint. This is a very common mod for us E30 guys. Weve got it easy you and I because our lights are pretty linear so we can mask off the rest of the light very easily. Have some masking tape and some newspaper. Put a good 3-4 coats but let each coat dry. I didnt clear coat it and it lasted forever. Some people swear by it, but it complicates things and lets there be more opportunity for fuck ups. Mariano

| No I blieve they sell them like that, but why pay 2-300 dollars for some lights that you can make for less than 10 qand have them look EXACTLY the same for less than $10? Its not like the smoked ones, you cant make those to look exactly the same, but the red ones, when done right look precisely the same. Trust me. I was like you 6 years ago when I attempted to paint my own on the 325. First time I tried it, I scored. Just make sure your first coat is light so you give the paint a chance to stick and not run. It also acts as a bit of the primer coat. Mariano

| You do this: *tape off section of light to be painted (I'd do ALL of what you want to be red, so its equally colored and glossed) *sand w/ sand paper *spray coat 1 *lightly sand with fine grit wet sand paper *spray coat 2 *lightly sand with fine grit wet sand paper *spray coat 3 *lightly sand with fine grit wet sand paper *spray coat 4 - clear coat I did this on my stock tails (w/o clear coat, and only 2 coats) and they looked pretty good. Would have looked great if I had done them without help (a friend stuck his finger on them when they were drying - moron) and if I had used clear. The red-only looks fine too, but I like the gloss look of clearcoat.
