My first BMW!

After weeks of searching I finally found the right car last night! It's a white 1993 325is with black interior, completely stock (as far as I can tell) and has no traction control, so that means LSD, right?
Anyways, they're going to wash and detail it for me and I pick it up on Monday! Just in time too, because it started snowing here and my 300zx is NOT good in the snow!
Any advice for a new BMW owner?

What makes you think a BMW is any good in the snow?

Get yourself some good winter tires and you'll be fine though.

Oh, and congrats on the new (to you) car!

...

The old burn out method. Get one wheel and put in grass and gas it, if on spins you dont have lsd, if they both spin still then you dont.

Thats the way i would do it.

Congrats! Take the TDC advice to heart. Snow tires will save you. A long time member on here who happens to own an e36 amazes me every winter with his driving ability on snow tires. He attributes a lot to the car and it's very sexy 50/50 weight distribution. I remember one snowy night returning from a bar in Cromwell CT. There must have been a good 3-4 inches on the ground. As we headed back on the highway we were literally calling the accidents before they happened. An SUV with an over-confident driver would fly by us on a straight and by the next bend in the highway...into the jersey barrier. As a general rule of thumb...I'd say BMW's are bad winter cars for those who lack entry-level driving skills...for those who possess them..these cars are a whole lot of fun.

My cars are HORRABLE in the snow.. The 325 is not that bad for a RWD but the m3 blows chunks. I need to get snowtires though.

Thanks for all the tips guys!
I've only ever owned rear-wheel drive cars and I've always found them to be pretty good with winter tires. (cept for my 300zx, wide tires+short wheelbase+lots 'o torque=fishtailin')
Alpine White looks way better in person than in pictures, so I'm pretty happy with the colour =D
I'll try the one-wheel-on-grass method when I get a chance. I really hope it's got an LSD, though I guess I could always just have one put in.

actually it should be so that, if both wheels spin then you know that u have a Limited Slip Diff.

PS. Congrats of course!

How do you think an E46 M3 SMG with some slightly balding 19in Continental Contisport Contacts is going to do in the snow....?
