Haha, its more than just pessimistic. Its a scientific standard. If the displacement is 3.246 and you're rounding to two digits, you use the number to the right of the second digit and ignore everything else. It could be 3.24999999L , but since the number to the right of the 2 is not greater than or equalt to five, you round down.
