I've heard horror stories about the company that makes those headers. SSautochrome or something like that(they have several Ebay Ids because of bad history). They make headers for many cars, and I've heard stories of people's turbo's falling off after the headers got hot and fell apart under stress. They're shiny, but that's about it.

Dude spend the extra dough and get a set of headers from Turner motorsport, I've seen the Active and SuperSprint headers and went with TMS instead. I have their shorty headers on my M3 and I love them. Plus they come ceramic coated and are stainless constructed, welds are very clean. They are on sale right now for $899. But I will warn you installing headers on an E36 isn't easy and will take about 4 hours and a garage lift, O2 sensor removal tool. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html...D=SHORTYHEADER

and they are way too expensive for headers... seriously look at any other car and tell me why BMW headers are triple the price...

TMS header are Supersprint headers WITH the name. The long ones at least. Don't get shorty style headers from anyone. I've only heard bad things.

I've heard great things about the SuperSpring long-tube headers, as well.

However, I've also heard good things about the HIOP shorties. What have you heard bad about them?

Well, I know there has been some controversy over Jet-Hot brand shorties in that their claimed 6-12hp gain was actually because of other modifications and that in independent tests on a dyno, the shorties actually lost power (not just down low but up top). Simply enough, it's a flawed design. I havent heard anything bad about HIOP, and this very well could be contained to just Jet-Hot, but I'd rather spend the extra money on long tubes and be certain of my purchase.

I wouldn't buy ANYTHING from OBX if I were you... They used to was be a good company once upon a time but not anymore (ever since the whole Fast and the Furious scene blew up) now they just mass produce crap to sell to all the ricers.
