| U.S. BMW diesils!? Well, ive been doing tons of searches on 320d's and 330d's, but I cant find any in the us. I think the only U.S. diesil ive seen, was in a Performance BMW Mag; it was a E36 320d I think. The guy lived in california, and his car was a 4 door with a trick paint job. If they did import them to the U.S., what years and when. Thanks, ![]() |

In Europe they've had 5er diesels since the E28, and turbo diesels since the E34. The diesel 7 started with the E38. Great fuel economy and the turbos go OK too, a 320 turbo diesel won the spa 24hr race a few years back. Would make for a great daily driver, if I had another garage ![]() Cheers, Iain.

The 1 series is something I'm still unsure about in the way it looks and the run flat tyres worry me but its a small RWD car, the kind of car that attracted me to BMW initialy. How available is diesel fuel in the US/Canada ? Here in Aus you can get it at most larger service stations. Cheers, Iain.

| BMW said it had plans on bringing some `07 models for the US since Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) will start being sold nationwide in `06...that's one of the main reasons most passenger diesel cars aren't sold here, it's hard to pass the US emission rules with our crappy diesel fuel. European diesel is much cleaner. Arco, now part of BP, does sell ULSD at many of its locations in CA. My mom has a 2004 Jetta Wagon TDI and fills up exculsively on that fuel. It is 15ppm for sulfur instead of the normal 300ppm sulfur found nationwide. Even with the auto tranny in her car she still can get 45mpg on the freeway and it's decently peppy with 100hp and 177tq @ 1800rpms. I would like to drive the 535d!! 3.0 Twin-turbo inline 6 w/ 270hp and 413tq...talk about a sweet daily driver. |

| I bought a E34 524td in a auction here in california... it was a grey market and would not start I make a few adjustments and some starting fluid and bam!!! it started. MAN IT was quiet. on of the most quiet diesels Ive ever seen. It had slow accelaration like most diesels but once hot and past 55mph it felt like any old car. it did 30mpg in the city lol. the car was in very very clean condition. I sold the car on ebay.
