| NO MORE GAS HERE!  OK, starting today at 7pm in Charlotte area, all gas stations are closing down.Three of our customers told us that at work today, fortunately I pumped my car full of gas right before I went to work. I though it was a rumor, but on my way from work to home, I pass 4 gas stations, all of them were PACKED, I mean there was a line in the street to get to them. By the time I got to the 4th gas station there was 2 police cars NOT ALLOWING any new car to get in line  They say this will last 7-10 days  All I know is that for the next 7-10 days am going to be looking more at my MPG gage than my speedometer....  I am pretty sure this has something to do with Katrina, but I just got back from work and haven't looked at the news yet.... Can we say:

| They didn't shut them down, they were blown! One of the wells, which floats on water, is stuck under some highrise bridge. It was on the news. We get about 46% of our oil from US soil. So there's a big impact there. Did you know The the persian gulf area only makes up about 9% of US oil usage. Kinda makes ou wanna smack those "no War for Oil" people upside the head and tell them to get a clue. BTW, those statistics were from this week's Time Magazine or this month's National Geographic, I can't remember. But they are up to date.

| It sounds right. They said on CNN that 1/6th of our nations oil comes from the gulf coast area if I heard right. Louisianna has a lot of refineries as well. I noticed a lot of panic from people around here as well and a massive crowd of cars waiting at a BP near campus. |

| Ya it jumped in price in pittsburgh 15 cents today, and people from ohio and WVA are driving in because their gas stations are emty... WTF I'm takin the go kart to work tomorrow, that thing gets like 50 mpg... I cant believe I just let a fuel filter drain at work today, thats gotta be worth like 3 dollars in gas, gotta start savin that shit.

| Last week premium was coming close to $3.00. Today I passed a BP charging $3.49. I'm seriously considering a bicycle. It's only 19 miles to work...

| From someone in the petroleum industry, the big problem is refinement not crude. At this time, about four refineries in the gulf area are non operational until they can be checked out. Thanks to the EPA, there are several different types of gas due to environmental concerns. In other words, you can't use the gas I use here in the northwest because it doesn't meet spec. Gulf area and east coast are going to be screwed for a while until the restrictions can be lifted and gas moved in from other parts of the country. Sorry folks, your government at work for you. We up here are having out own problems with pannic buying that is causing shortages. I don't know from one hour to the next where I can get loads of gas or diesel, at what rack or from what supplier. In other words, it's a nightmare from the supplier end too. Don't get mad at the gas station person, they have no control at this point.

| I believe the pipeline that runs from the texas/louisanna area has been shut down due to power outages and therefor can't pump to the east coasts major areas...

| All i know is that I saw $5.09 for premium yesterday around 6:30pm.........

| premium jumped from 2.70 to 3.40 here, ten dollars didnt even get me a quarter tank! good thing im goin up north tomorrow and my cars gonna be parked til tuesday  hopefully the prices will come down a hair. |

| All stations in my area shut down yesterday around 6pm. Prices are rumored to come back around the $6 range. My 45min trip to school everyday has just turned into my $45 trip to school.

| I guess it could be wose though. We could be under water or alligator bait.... or we could have watched our whole town float away.... I know it sucks for gas to go up, but (gets out his bible and beads) let's not forget why prices are climbing. Those people don't have to worry about gas, they have to worry about their cities, bridges, and loved ones. Sorry to be a downer guys, but gas will go back down, do what you can and drive smart, try to save some bucks and give it to the Red Cross, or better yet, donate blood. They need it! Sorry for the rant, carry on  |

| Just heard on CNN the EPA is lifting restrictions on gas. Until further notice you can use any gas anywhere
