I also have a good opinion of BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD - but they save you only about $10 per tire, and from the first little bits I've heard, the monster tire to look for this year might be the Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07... You might want to check this review which compares those three...

I personally havn't touched a car with the AD07's yet, and they are priced the same as the Michelin PS2's... So, this isn't a full endorsement, just a "keep an eye on them"...
For my money - Bang for buck summer tire, can't beat the Kumho MX's... They are on the car now.
P.S. - If you don't want to keep the OE size - that changes things a bit... The short list:
Cheapest tire that still actually works well: Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212
The best performing street tire in the dry, period: Falken Azenis Rt615
After buying tires for this year, I had someone tell me that diameter wise the Falken 615's in 255/40r17 actually run about the same size as other tires in 245/40r17... So, if I was buying now, I'd look to confirm that, and if true - I'd probably have the falkens. BTW, they also have a little bit of a numb turn in feeling, but it doesn't alter the performance, just makes things a little strange for the driver. FWIW.
