| Another bimmer down... A few days ago, my sister (25), proud owner of a relatively new Black 2004 BMW 330i 6-spd w/ Performance Pkg., was involved in a serious accident in Amelia Island, Florida (where she presently lives (travelling nurse)). Apparently she and her boyfriend were driving to a movie around 5p.m. travelling @ approx. 50mph., when a woman disregarded a stop sign travelling @ roughly 35mph on a side road, crashes into front right-hand side of my sisters BMW, nearly splitting it in half @ the general point of impact where the door hinge meets the fender...it happened so fast, my sister said she didn't even have time to apply the brakes. Thankfully everyone survived, my sister w/ just minor airbag burn on her face, and her boyfriend w/ his right wrist and arm broken in two places & needs surgery. The woman driving the other vehicle was driving an older P.O.S. car (not sure of the make) and from what I heard, the front end of the woman's car was completely removed from the chasis, however, she survived (not sure of her condition). The officer that called the house that arrived on the scene of the accident stated that my sister and her boyfriend survived w/ just minor injuries due to the safety of the BMW she was driving. Her car was deemed a total loss by the insurance co. and is now searching for a used E46 M3...her love of BMW's has begun! Kinda sad about the car, I detailed/drove it for the last time before she took it down to Florida about a month ago...  If she takes pictures, I'll post as soon as I get 'em.      |

| Pretty much most Florida drivers should have their rights to drive taken away because of things just like this. Everyday I hear about another accident... but I don't think you can really call them accidents anymore. That's sugarcoating them as no ones fault, even though 99% of the time it's becuase people are completely oblivious in Florida.

| kind of makes me wonder why anyone buys a volvo when you can get the same safety from a bmw.

| Glad everyone is going to be OK (in the grand scheme of things anyway). It's not just Florida man though I can definately believe it after the whole chad incident. But up hya, in Indiana the drivers are just as oblivious. The attached pics are from an accident I was in. I was in the bed sitting against the glass on the passenger side, slid down the bed, broke the tailgate off with my legs, the cables that keep it from going past parrallel held, the gate caught my chest, so I was pinned between the tailgate and the bed with my legs dragging on the ground. I walked away, as did the driver, passenger fractured his pelvis in 2 places, reconstructive surgery on his arm, lots of glass embedded in his skin, etc, etc. Some genious in an f250 pulling a trailer with no brakes or lights on on the trailer hooked up, driving with his flashers on, we turned in front of him doin about 30, he was doin about 50. ouch.

| it's really sad to hear that but on the other hand i'm really happy for you that nothing happend to your sister and her bf. it is really hard when you lose someone. god bless you and your family and hope that they will both be back on track again. no worries about the car cuz it's just metal and paint you can always get it back. |
