| 1 piece vs 2 or 3 piece rims I've always wondered what was the advantage of a 2 or 3 piece rim over a one piece. Besides the price and the individual pieces, is there a difference performance-wise? |

| German has a good point. It is much easier and cheaper to replace a part of a wheel then the whole wheel itself. This comes into play when you have a dish. Another advantage is weight itself and strength.

| Yeah, basically what people said, cheaper to repair damage (just replace the outer piece instead of the whole thing) and lighter...but now here's my question. Lets say you have two wheels, one is 2 piece the other is 1 piece and actually a pound lighter. Does the 2 piece have an advantage other than damage repair?

| Multi-piece wheels does have some advantages and disadvantages. 2-pce. is more durable and the 3pce. is more lightweight at most times, but it becomes more pricey compared to standard 1pce. wheels. Some 1pce. wheels are cast and some are alloy wheels which in return benefits in weight reduction. For those who want extreme performance wheels then they can step up the the magnesium and forged 3pce. wheels to reduce weight but then it becomes expensive. This is not always for everyone if they're on a budget.
