Rasp is not what is commonly known as the "sound that comes out of the exhaust".

The term "rasp" has been used in regards to the E46 M3 to the often times called "tinny" or "clanging" sound of the E46 M3 stock exhaust system.

It sounds as if you are just looking for a louder exhaust, not an exhaust that provides more rasp.

Eisenmann, SuperSprint, Dixis, and B&B Triflo are a few of the more well-known exhausts out there for the E46 M3.

To get an idea of supersprint:

2nd is a E46 M3 will CSL headers and a full header back supersprint race system. No cats, no resonators.

3rd is a E46 M3 with aFe intake, powerchip, 4.10 LSD diff from Diffsonline and the supersprint race exhaust with a normal cat-back configuration. Note the Full header+race system is not much louder.

Personally, the SS is one of my favorite sounding exhausts.

Well, let's just humor the thought. What could he do to get more rasp?

In all seriousness, rogueengineering.com has a midpipe for the E46 that removes rasp, and in it's plays puts a healthy burble and roar. UUCmotorwerks.com also offers a similar "Rasp-X" midpipe that removes rasp. The rogue piece is just one section of midpipe, while the uuc model is the full two piece ensemble. Thusly, the rogue piece costs about $400 more, putting it at $950. Not bad for what it does.

I think he wants more rasp, not less. I do agree, the rasp is badass! Im pretty sure the only way to get more rasp is just getting an aftermarket exhaust, which will mearly make it louder.
